A coworker of mine whom I've been happy to show off my weekend projects to at work had a unique need pop up that he was hoping I could help with.  He had some items that needed to be kept at the ready on his nightstand near his bed but wasn't able to quickly setup anything and still have an abundance of useable space on the top of his night stand.

That's when we came up with the thought of adding a small cubby under the main top.  A little design work and we had something that would fit the need and was the right shape.

This night stand came together really nicely with a waterfall grain feature on the sides and an elevated top for a little enhanced detail on the top.  the entire project is made out of either white oak plywood or solid white oak with the exception of the drawers which are 1/2" baltic birch plywood.

All in all I couldn't be happier with how this turned out.  The client initially wanted only one but after seeing it they couldn't resist and want a 2nd one for the other side of the bed as well.
